Police received a complaint when a shopper discovered Nazi and Confederate merchandise at the Redwood Country Flea Market in Wallingford, Conn. last weekend.

The call came from a Jewish person, who wished to not be identified, according to Inquisitr.

"I was shaking and almost vomiting," he said. "I had to run. My grandmother had numbers." ("Numbers" refer to the Nazi's system for tattooing Jewish prisoners.)

Police responded to the scene where they observed the Confederate flag and Nazi merchandise, however they were unable to do anything because no laws were broken and the items were being sold on private property, according to WND.

"There was a table set up with this material," said Chief William Wright. "It's not criminally illegal, but obviously it offended this person. It causes some people a sense of being uncomfortable. Certainly the owner could preclude this merchandise."

It's unclear if the items being if the items that were being sold were authentic. Military Specialties, Inc. in Newington, Conn. sells a variety of historical military objects, including reproductions of Nazi and Confederate items and apparel.

Co-owner of the flea market, William Moore supports the person who called the police and is sympathetic to what they felt. As a dealer of commodities with a controversial past, he understands both sides of the debate, according to News 8.

"This is America, you can buy and sell whatever you care to," said Moore.
