Office Romance Blamed for Google's Exec Resignation and Co-Founder Brin Split-up with Wife

A complicated office romance led to Google's co-founder Sergey Brin split-up with wife and a sudden resignation of a senior exec.

So Brin has split-up with his wife after being together for six years but he has a new love interest now, who happened to be the former senior executive's ex-girlfriend. Another conflict is that Brin's now ex-wife is the sister of Google's current senior vice president in charge of product management ads and commerce, Susan Wojcicki.

Susan is one of the most powerful employees in Google and highest-ranking female official within the grounds of the search engine company. Having this said, it is expected that there will be more conflicts to happen inside the company as one of this office romance fallouts even if a spokesperson told AllThingsD that Brin and his ex-wife remained "good friends and partners."

Brin is the 21st richest man in the world with an estimated net wealth of $22.8 billion, according to Forbes. His ex-wife owns 23andMe, a DIY DNA tests company, and is funded by Brin as well.

Brin's new love interest is inside the company as well identified as Google Glass marketing manager Amanda Rosenberg. He had no direct participation with the Glass project but he had obviously supported the wearable device way beyond. The office romance explains it all.

Google’s vice president of Android product management Hugo Barra announced his resignation on Thursday to move to a Chinese startup Xioami as a senior exec. However, people close to hime denied that his decision may be related to this office romance. Barra had been with Google for 5.5 years.

While it is very unusual for a Silicon Valley exec to walk out and move to China despite of having no formal or family ties in the country, Xioami is not a bad start for a new career path. The Chinese startup is known as the "Apple of China" adopting a management style similar to Jobs.
