To separate themselves from Disney's Marvel Cinematic Universe, Warner Bros. and the DC Extended Universe are jumping right into team-up movies with origins coming later. That's why we're getting "Batman V Superman: Dawn of Justice" next year instead of "Man of Steel 2," and it's also why crossovers will be the norm for other superhero films within this shared continuity.

We've heard that Batman may show up in "Wonder Woman," and we know for a fact that he has some sort of role in next summer's "Suicide Squad" alongside Will Smith's Deadshot (actually, we've heard that Batman is becoming the crown jewel of the DCEU). That could prove important as a new rumor suggests that Smith could join Affleck in the unofficial Dark Knight solo film, "The Batman," in 2017.

"Right now as per my sources IF things pan out Will Smith may join Ben Affleck in his solo Batman movie, which might not end up being so solo," Kellvin Chavez of Latino Review wrote. "If Deadshot joins the Bat in the movie, it will be for a 'major role' for a 'The Good, The Bad, and The Ugly' scenario."

Interesting, very interesting (strokes chin).

As of now, nothing is set in stone. Warner Bros. hasn't even announced its intentions for a Batman spinoff, though it has been rumored for some time (with Affleck likely directing and co-writing with Chris Terrio). Pairing Smith with Affleck would give the film a pair of A-list actors for WB's most profitable property. Not a bad way to continue building up the DCEU.

And it's not as if this is unprecedented in the source material. Batman and Deadshot have teamed up in the comics before, most recently in issue 23 of "Batman: Arkham Knight." While Deadshot is technically a bad guy, we're sure the studio will rework him into a lovable villain in "Suicide Squad" so as to not squander all the good will Smith has built up over his career.

We'll keep you posted as more details begin to emerge.
