Memphis Grizzlies RUMORS: Dave Joerger To Be Fired As Soon As Tuesday?

The Memphis Grizzlies got off to an extremely rough start to the season but they seemed to have figured it out as they hit a nice little hot streak but now they have lost three of their last four and Dave Joerger seems to be back on the hot seat. There were reports earlier this season that Joerger was in trouble but now it seems like the seat is scorching as the Grizzlies may fire him as soon as Tuesday, according to Brian Geltzeiler of Hoopscritic.

It is no secret that Grizzlies owner Robert Pera is not happy with the way the team has been playing and that he was considering firing Joerger but now the reports suggest that if Monday night's game against the Washington Wizards doesn't go well Joerger could be fired as early as Tuesday morning. Joerger just signed a two year contract extension with Memphis in May of 2014 and he has the Grizzlies in sixth place in the Western Conference but that is obviously not enough.

Joerger isn't the only one on the hot seat though according to the reports as vice president of basketball operations John Hollinger is "on extremely thin ice" with the Grizzlies right now. Hollinger is best known for creating the stat called Player Efficiency Rating (PER) that many people use to determine how effective a player is when he is on the court. Hollinger has been in the Grizzlies organization since taking the job in 2012 when Pera and the new ownership group took over.

Joerger has been the coach of the Grizzlies since the 2013-14 season and has led them to the playoffs in each of his first two years. Joerger was an assistant coach under Lionel Hollins until he was fired and Joerger took over. Under Joerger the Grizzlies have gone 118-71 in the regular season and 9-9 in the playoffs. So far this year the Grizzlies are 13-12 but have had numerous blowout losses including a 50 point loss to the Golden State Warriors which is one of the big things going against Joerger. Because they aren't playing as well as Pera hoped Joerger could be out of a job if the Grizzlies don't beat the Wizards on Monday night.
