The nominees for the Academy Awards were revealed Wednesday after months of speculation. Eight pictures were nominated in the Best Picture category, and while some of the films were box office hits, others fell more under the radar. "The Late Show" host Stephen Colbert used his show on Thursday night to reenact the plot to all eight films and told his audience that he was capable of playing ever role in the films "because every nominee this year is white."

Colbert kicked off his recap with Leonardo DiCaprio's "The Revenant," which earned an outstanding 12 nominations. The late night host put on a fur hat and was then thrown a stuffed bear toy and pretended that it attacked him while he screamed in pain. He then launched into "The Big Short," a film about the 2008 economic crash and threw money into the air as he yelled "I'm rich, but I kind of feel bad about it."

"I'm just as wee Irish lass in Brooklyn in 1952," Colbert said of the film "Brooklyn" as he wore a red wig. "63 years from now I hope someone in this neighborhood will dress like me ironically."

The film "Spotlight" covers the Boston Globe's investigation into the Catholic Church's sex abuse scandal, to which Colbert just said "pass" to recapping.

Colbert then ran through "Bridge of Spies," "Room," "Mad Max: Furry Road" and "The Martian."
