For the average movie goer, the Guardians of the Galaxy roster is made up of five awesome members: Star-Lord, Gamora, Drax the Destroyer, Groot and Rocket. However, avid comic book fans will tell you that a bevy of different characters have found themselves on the Guardians squad at one point or another, even Iron Man and The Thing. While neither of them will be showing up in "Vol. 2," it has been confirmed that the lineup will be expanding.

Writer/director James Gunn heaped praise on a mystery actress who joined the sequel and confirmed that she'll be joining the Guardians during a recent Facebook Q&A.

"We have a new cast member playing a new member of the Guardians of the Galaxy and she was the most awesome and easiest person I've ever had to cast. She blew me the [frick] away. She's amazing and I can't wait to share her with the world," Gunn said.

As of now, the only new actress that we know for a fact is in "Guardians of the Galaxy Vol. 2" is Pom Klementieff, who is a relative unknown. That makes Gunn's "share her with the world" sentiment fit if she is the new team member. It is rumored that Klementieff is playing Mantis, a comic book character who did actually sign on to the Guardians for a time.

However, Mantis came from Earth in the comics, and Gunn has repeatedly said that Peter Quill is the only earthling in the movie. If they want to use Mantis in the sequel, they'll likely have to change her origin story a bit.

Though "Guardians of the Galaxy Vol. 2" will have a smaller cast than its predecessor, there will be a few new faces. Kurt Russell is being courted for the role of Star-Lord's father, and it was announced last week that comedian Steve Agee had joined the cast. Youndu, Nebula and Kraglin should all be returning for the follow up.

"Guardians of the Galaxy Vol. 2" will hit theaters on May 5, 2017.
