Marvel Studios has built up so much good will among fans that there has never been a question of whether or not "Captain America: Civil War" will be good. Rather, the only question has been how good. According to Anthony Mackie, it's going to be the best film in the Marvel Cinematic Universe's history.

Now that is high praise.

While making the press rounds for his upcoming action-thriller "Triple 9," Mackie talked to IGN about the highly anticipated conclusion to the Captain America trilogy and why he believes it "far surpasses" "The Winter Soldier" and "Iron Man," two of the most popular entries in the MCU.

Mackie had this to say when asked how "Civil War" will stand apart from "The First Avenger" and "Winter Soldier":

"It'll be very different because...I feel the best Marvel movies thus far have been Winter Soldier and Iron Man. And I think this movie far surpasses those two movies. I think the Russo brothers and Marvel have done a very good job with upping the ante every movie. And this one definitely does not fail to live up to that."

While many Marvel fans would throw "The Avengers" and "Guardians of the Galaxy" into that mix as well, we get the idea. Mackie is setting the bar pretty high. But he says that "Civil War's" focus on character development and story will prove why it will be held in such high regard when all is said and done. It isn't just a rush to get to the action, there's an important buildup.

"If it's a civil war, you have to establish why there's a war. You can't just start fighting and expect people to appreciate it," he explained.

You can decide for yourself where "Captain America: Civil War" ranks among the MCU when it finally hits theaters on May 6.
