Sylvester Stallone may not have won an Academy Award at this year's Oscars, but that doesn't mean he isn't still crushing the Hollywood game at the moment. One of the most celebrated action stars of the last 20 years, Stallone doesn't need any hardware to involve himself in a diverse mix of fantastic projects. But what will the "Creed" co-star do next? I'm so glad that you asked.

Everyone knows a "Creed" sequel is in the works, but director Ryan Coogler will have to start and finish his work on Marvel's "Black Panther" before getting started with the boxing drama's follow up. That leaves a big hole in Stallone's schedule; a hole that he may fill with another interesting Marvel project.

Recent reports hint that Stallone may be appearing in "Guardians of the Galaxy Vol. 2." The actor was spotted at the same hotel in Atlanta where the entire "Guardians" cast is staying during production. What's more, Stallone can be seen holding a script as he heads to a mystery set. None of this concretely means that he will be appearing in the highly anticipated sequel, but it is suspicious to say the least.

As film buffs already know, this wouldn't be the first time Stallone that involved himself in a comic book movie. In the 1990s, the action star attempted to give Judge Dredd a live-action treatment, but the results were not so promising. Still, with director/writer James Gunn on board, "Guardians of the Galaxy Vol. 2" could be the perfect shot at redemption. Fellow former action star Kurt Russell is already on board in the role of Star-Lord's father, after all. Doesn't everyone here want to see John Rambo/Rocky Balboa goe head-to-head with Snake Plisken?

It's unknown what role Stallone would take if he is indeed in "Guardians of the Galaxy Vol. 2." Would he be a live-action character or would he appear via CGI? Would he be a bad guy helping Thanos or a good guy helping the Guardians? So many questions, so few answers right now.

We'll keep you updated as more information becomes available. In the meantime, "Guardians of the Galaxy Vol. 2" will hit theaters on May 5, 2017.
