The Dallas Cowboys have several needs as they prepare for the upcoming 2016 NFL Draft, but upgrading their offense appears to be high on their to-do list since they already took care of the pressing need at running back by picking up former Washington Redskin Alfred Morris during the offseason.

Morris had a rough season and was seemingly replaced by a younger back, however, he should still have several seasons of solid production left, especially behind one of the best offensive lines in the NFL. This is a big step in repairing the void caused by the departure of DeMarco Murray.

The Cowboys may want to add a younger running back during the draft and will be in a position to grab either the best wide receiver or running back available. Ezekiel Elliott is the only offensive player that is not a quarterback who will be selected in the top ten.

Dallas could trade back in the draft and look to select wide receiver Laquon Treadwell, who is a top 20 pick and could be the best wide receiver in the draft. Either player would provide a significant upgrade at their positions and would give a gigantic boost to this offense as a whole.

During the 2015 season, star wide receiver Dez Bryant went down with an injury that required him to miss a large chunk of the season. This exposed the Cowboys lack of depth at the position and the need for a quality number two wide receiver.

Dallas could add a player like this in the second round of the draft, as that is where most of the top wide receivers are projected to be selected. It does not seem likely that Dallas will invest their first two draft picks into the offensive side of the ball, as they have multiple holes to fill on the defense, so deciding between the top wide receiver or running back could have huge implications.

Elliott is one of the top players projected to be selected by the Cowboys and he could become the future starting running back in this offense. Selecting him would go against their principles in not overvaluing the running back position, but Elliott might be worth it.
