On July 4th of 2016 it marks the 40th anniversary of one of the largest fireworks displays in the country. Millions of people will be watching the huge fireworks on the East Riverside.
Independence Day of the United States, also referred to as the Fourth of July or July Fourth in the U.S., is a federal holiday commemorating the adoption of the Declaration of Independence on July 4, 1776, by the Continental Congress declaring that the thirteen American colonies regarded themselves as a new country, the United States of America, and no longer part of the British Empire.
The Macy's Fourth of July Fireworks show will happen in New York's East River this year.
The fireworks display is scheduled to begin at 9:25 p.m.
NBC will broadcast starting from 8pm Eastern Time as well if you cannot be there in person.
The firework will last for almost 30 mins.
People can watch the Macy’s fireworks show on the FDR drive (closed to traffic between East 63rd Street to the Battery Park Underpass) but there are many better places to watch. The Elevated Acre, a secret green space built between FiDi skyscrapers at 55 Water St., provides a perfect view of the two barges stationed at the Brooklyn Bridge.
