Samsung Galaxy Note 8 confirmed; Galaxy Note 7 users to get 50% off full price of Note 8 or S8

It seems like there are a whole lot of problems regarding the Samsung Galaxy Note 7 for Samsung electronics. Even though it is saddening to see the sight of one of the best smartphone makers in the android segment, it's not the best time for Samsung, as per ongoing matters at the moment.

Samsung is now rather in some kind of a due to faulty hardware in one of their flagship devices. Samsung a month back issued a massive global recall of all their note 7 units due to their phones exploding due to bad batteries. It involved more than 2.5 million units.

They also set up return programs at all major airports due to the world-wide ban on carrying the phones in airplanes. The loss is estimated to be around 19 billion US$.

A reddit thread with a news link revealed about Samsung Galaxy Note 8 is bound to happen eventually. However, things were rather a bit intriguing.

On going through it in-detail, it seems like current Note 7 owners are eligible for an upgrade program very much like how Apple manages to when the upcoming replacement for the Note 7 is announced the following year. This also includes an offer for the user to either opt for an S8 or the Note 8 itself, which nonetheless confirms as the successor to the Galaxy Note 7.

According to Reuters, it seems Samsung is now offering the upgrade program currently in South Korea desperately hoping to cling to their customers at any costs. The report details that users in the upgrade program will only have to shell half the price that was paid for their S7 phones in lieu of the complete price for a new S8 or Note 8.

This comes after a decision to halt complete production and sales of the disastrous Galaxy Note 7 previously mentioned. Apparently, some users have also been compensated with a financial stimulus about US$89 for those affected but only in South Korea.

However, even though such a program has now been announced, Samsung also mentioned that it would be region and country-dependent which it did not further elaborate.

Samsung is yet to settle a multi-million dollar lawsuit filed by various people including individuals and law firms. Samsung is already reeling under heavy pressure to desperately bounce back from their debacle for this year with Galaxy S8 or Note 8 release. But it's evident, according to many analysts, that Samsung might need to do more than just offering financial incentives and upgrade programs.
