A $250 million lawsuit is being prepared by George Floyd's daughter against Kanye West in response to the rapper's divisive comments concerning Floyd's cause of death.

Attorneys representing Floyd's family have sent the rapper, also known as Ye, a cease-and-desist letter and asserted that his daughter has been retraumatized as a result of his remarks.

George Floyd's Family Reacts to Kanye West's Defamatory Claims

Kanye West is allegedly creating an unsafe and unhealthy environment for her, according to Floyd's relatives. Roxie Washington is suing Kanye West, his business partners, and associates for harassment, misappropriation, defamation, and the infliction of emotional distress on behalf of her child, who is the only beneficiary of Floyd's inheritance. Damages for $250 million are demanded.

The news statement sent by Witherspoon Law Group and Dixon & Dixon Attorneys At Law, who is representing Floyd's daughter, quotes Kanye West's comments from his recent participation on the podcast Drink Champs. Kanye West's remarks, they continued, are a repugnant attempt to belittle George Floyd's existence and to capitalize on his horrible death.

Attorneys for the Floyd family claim that they are extremely concerned and hurt by the charges the rapper has made in a cease-and-desist letter they sent to him that was made public by TMZ.

Specifically, they demand that Kanye West immediately cease, and eliminate the 'Drink Champs' interview and all related statements regarding George Floyd from every podcast, website, advertisement, and social media site, regardless of platform or medium.

Kanye West, as well as his lawyers, staff, agents, partners, associates, and representatives, are also commanded in the letter to refrain from publishing or causing to be published any other audio, video, statement, post, etc. About George Floyd, his estate, his family, and everything related to his passing, including but not limited to how he died.

Floyd passed away on May 25, 2020, following his detention by Derek Chauvin and three other cops. Floyd called out, "I can't breathe," but Chauvin knelt on his neck for nine minutes as he was shackled and lying face down on the sidewalk. Following Floyd's killing, there were widespread protests all around the world, and the Black Lives Matter movement was established. On May 26, the Minneapolis Police Department fired Chauvin, and on May 29, he was taken into custody.

On April 20, 2021, Chauvin was determined to have committed second-degree murder, third-degree murder, and second-degree manslaughter. He received a 22 1/2-year prison term. Chauvin was given a 21-year term after entering a guilty plea to federal charges alleging that he used excessive force against Floyd and disregarded his urgent medical requirements.

Kanye West's Divorce Battle

After more than a year since Kim Kardashian first filed documents to dissolve their marriage, Kanye West is getting ready to resolve his divorce from her in a separate legal dispute. According to The Blast, Kanye West's attorney has submitted a "statement of disclosure," indicating that their lawsuit is about to be resolved.

The records state that Kanye West has given his estranged wife's legal team access to every financial record he has ever kept and that he and she have also come to an understanding over the division of their assets. Kim Kardashian wed Kanye West in Florence, Italy in 2014, and the couple soon had four children together: sons Saint, 6, and Psalm, 3, as well as girls North, 9, and Chicago, 4. In the end, she filed for divorce in February 2021.

Kanye West attempted to fight Kim's efforts to be deemed legally single during their highly-publicized legal battle; nonetheless, a judge accepted her plea in March 2022. Kanye West also employed several attorneys throughout the separation, and he just recruited his sixth one, Robert Stephan Cohen, who previously represented Melinda Gates in her $130 billion divorce from ex-husband Bill Gates.

The rapper has also hired Beverly Hills-based attorney Nicholas A. Salick of Salick Family Law Group, APLC as his legal representative in California since Cohen is in New York and the formal separation battle is being fought in Los Angeles. In light of Kanye West's most recent scandals, which include his White Lives Matter T-shirt and anti-Semitic rants, things between the ex-couples seem to have gotten even icier recently, Mirror reported.
