A 62-year-old New Yorker remembers how he was punched and shoved in an unprovoked subway attack and begged New York mayor Eric Adams to solve the crime problem there. He was distraught last Tuesday, describing he was a victim of a 'knockout game' when he was in transit.

'Knockout game' Could Be Reason for Subway Attack

The victim, Ronald Baptiste, an electrician and a married grandfather, said no one is doing something about it. Also, the subways are getting dangerous for people doing their thing, preyed on by criminals, reported New York Times.

He said he paid $2.75 for a ride in the MTA only to get struck in the head and hurled to the tracks by the miscreant. Furthermore, he wants to feel the subway is a safe place.

Baptiste explained that deploying cops to the subways will not solve the crimes if the homeless and criminals in the subway are there, it won't be safe. Homeless shelters are pointless if they don't leave the subway, noted Meaww.

Baptiste said that NYC is seen as a hotbed of crime and added that Mayor Eric Adams must do something.

NYC police revealed the assault on Baptiste is a depraved challenge on social media. The objective is to hit random strangers anywhere, and the culprits are mentally ill.

The NYC man was going to work in Manhattan last Sunday when he was assaulted by 21-year-old Deshaun Smith, who crept behind and hit the back of the victim's head in the subway. The suspect shoved Baptiste to the tracks and escaped. Cops caught him and charged him with assault on Monday. An attack at the 149th Street 4-train station is not the first.

The police arrested and charged the assailant last Monday. Deshaun is in Rikers Island with a $20,000 cash bail, said the courts.

Calls to Mayor Eric Adams To Stop Subway Crimes

He stated a plan to make citizens safe when using the subway is a goal, citing Pj Media.

The court papers remarked that Smith attempted to lie to the police when it was apparent it was a demented and unprovoked attack in self-defense. Baptiste felt vindicated his attacker was dealt with. The victim mentioned it was a murder attempt, adding that his head could have gotten a concussion, become a paraplegic, or worse, be crushed by the train.

Furthermore, claims by his guilty assailant of provocation were silly and a lie. Stressing that he was singled out by the surprise assault while walking. Also, such a shocking attack has given his wife great trauma. Baptiste related that when his wife went to work, she got to 149th Street and wept on the train. She told him she could not hold it later. He expressed dismay at her plight.

Violence on the transit is high and with nine crimes in 2022. The democrats claim to be doing something about it, solving the mentally unstable vagrant problem. Mayor Eric Adam expressed that he intends to stop more subway crimes.
