Young 'Harry Potter' fans were "hurt" by JK Rowling's trans opinions, according to actor Daniel Radcliffe.

The actor claimed he believed it was "really important" to come out against the author's comments, which some people perceived as being anti-trans.

Why Daniel Radcliffe Denounced JK Rowling?

In June 2020, the author of the 'Harry Potter' series came under fire for a string of tweets that were perceived as transphobic. JK Rowling vehemently refuted the claims. After speaking with LGBT+ community members, Daniel Radcliffe stated that he "wanted them to know that not everyone in the franchise felt that way."

Per Telegraph via MSN, the 33-year-old actor claimed that many young, queer, and transgender fans of the show had been "hurt on that day" in a recent interview with online outlet IndieWire. JK Rowling claimed she was inspired to speak out about transgender issues because of her experience with domestic abuse and sexual assault after the argument started as a result of her words.

Additionally, she claimed that "hundreds of trans activists" have threatened her since, activities that the UK government has denounced. The author appeared in the 'Harry Potter' 20th reunion special earlier this year, but only in archive video clips.

For the 20th anniversary of the publishing of 'Harry Potter And The Philosopher's Stone,' Daniel Radcliffe and fellow cast members Emma Watson and Rupert Grint reunited in the HBO Max special ''Return To Hogwarts.'

JK Rowling's Anti-Trans Views

In 2020, when Rowling criticized an opinion item that used the words "those who menstruate" on the website Devex, a media outlet for the global development community, she sparked fury on Twitter. After a backlash over her remarks, the renowned author was accused of being transphobic. When the author objected to an online piece about "people who menstruate," she was subjected to what she later described as "relentless attacks."

Since then, she has asserted that she has been the target of numerous threats from "trans activists." It comes after a former SNP minister was hailed a "heroine" by Miss Rowling for abruptly leaving the party in opposition to Nicola Sturgeon's extreme gender recognition legislation.

After resigning as minister of community safety last week as the SNP Government unveiled its intentions to make it simpler for transgender persons to legally alter their gender, Ash Regan, 48, was dubbed a "principled politician" by the author of the Harry Potter series.

In a harsh letter, the First Minister chastised Regan for leaving her post and insisted that she had never objected to the contentious Gender Recognition Reform Bill, Daily Mail reported. The author of the 'Harry Potter' series has already expressed concern that the Bill may lead to attacks on "the most vulnerable women" by individuals who are able to take advantage of developments in places like jails and domestic abuse shelters.

JK Rowling received a lot of criticism online for her tweets about transgender people while posting an article about equality. She republished an opinion piece that mentioned "those who menstruate," evidently objecting to the use of the term "women." Many criticized JK Rowling's comments and emphasized that a person's gender is not always determined at birth.

Meanwhile, Daniel Radcliffe is currently preparing for the publication of 'Weird: The Al Yankovic Story' on the business front. Daniel Radcliffe plays the lead part, with Evan Rachel Wood and Rainn Wilson co-starring as Madonna and Dr. Demento, respectively. The release is November 4, as per Republic World.
