Actor Jeremy Renner said it was his fault when he got into a snowplow accident on New Year's Day. The accident almost left the actor dead, and he had to apologize to his family for putting them through that, as reported by The Straits Times.

In an interview on the ABC Network, Renner said he was driving the plow after using it to pull one of the family's trucks out of the snow and onto the pavement. 

Renner said that as the plow skidded on ice, he worried about his nephew's safety, who had just unhooked the chains connecting the truck and plow. He then stuck one foot out of the plow to look back at Alex and did not set the parking brake. The actor lost his footing and fell out of the cab. 

He got worried that the snowplow would roll back and crush his nephew, he tried to jump back into the vehicle to stop it. He stepped onto the plow's moving wheel tracks, throwing him forward, and the vehicle ran over him. The accident broke over 30 bones, collapsing a lung and piercing his liver. 

Neighbors tended to The Avengers actor said that they found him with blood all over him, and his breathing was shallow. Renner also had a crack in his skull.

Renner Takes Responsibility

Renner recalls apologizing to his family and admitting his fault the next day when he woke up at the hospital. 

Titanium rods and screws were used on Renner to repair his broken ribs, and metal was placed in his legs and face to rebuild an eye socket. 

Currently, the actor is undergoing hours of daily therapy to help him recover from his injuries. 

Renner received a nomination for the best actor Academy Award for his role in The Hurt Locker (2008), which took home the Oscar for Best Picture.

He was nominated for a supporting actor role for his performance in The Town (2010). Following his success in The Hurt Locker, Renner appeared in several Marvel and other movies, including two Mission: Impossible films in 2011 and 2015, 'Arrival' (2016) and 'American Hustle' (2013).

Renner has been a homeowner in Washoe County, Nevada, for quite some time. This region in northern Nevada experienced significant snowfall on New Year's Eve. Over the weekend, the National Weather Service put out a winter storm alert in the area, and authorities cautioned about slippery roads and hazardous driving conditions due to the weather.
