The US State Department released a press release that details the high-profile visit to the People's Republic of China this June.

The spokesperson's office confirmed that Daniel J. Kritenbrink, the assistant secretary of state for East Asian and Pacific affairs, is traveling to Beijing and New Zealand for the first week of the month. Sarah Beran, the National Security Council senior director for China and Taiwan affairs, is joining the assistant secretary.

The State Department says the high-profile visit to China, involving Kritenbrink and Beran, focuses on bilateral relationship discussions amid the tension between the two giant countries.

However, critics have blasted the Biden administration for its latest high-profile visit. According to Fox News Online, Representative Darrell Issa pointed out the sheer timing of the Beijing trip. He tweeted asking, "Is the Biden Administration sending senior officials to China as we remember the anniversary of the massacre in Tiananmen Square?"

Besides the tweet of the House Foreign Affairs Committee, he also spoke with Fox News Digital. He told the news outlet that the high-profile visit only benefits China and its President, Xi Jinping. Issa believes, "It's a major coup for Xi, and America's position in the world just got weaker - where it matters most."

Fox News notes that the State Department honored the Tiananmen Square massacre anniversary roughly two hours after announcing the Beijing visit.

The commemoration notes, "The United States will continue advocating for people's human rights and fundamental freedoms in China and around the world." The massacre occurred in 1989 when Chinese troops opened fire on unarmed pro-democracy protesters in Tiananmen Square, killing hundreds or thousands.

Due to the latest high-profile visit of Biden admin officials, Issa reached out to Secretary of State Anthony Blinken. The Republican Congressman from California demands answers to his queries about the latest China visit.

High-Profile China Visits by Senior Officials

Meanwhile, as per CNN, the Biden admin plans to set up a couple of high-profile China visits by its senior officials in the coming months.

CNN notes that the visits could include four high-ranking officials from the Biden admin. One of which is the State Secretary Blinken. It could also include the Secretary of Commerce Gina Raimondo, Secretary of Treasury Janet Yellen, and Climate Envoy John Kerry.
