Leila de Lima's bail plea was rejected by the Muntinlupa court, which saddened many of her supporters.
Leila de Lima, a Filipina politician who heavily supports human rights, was arrested back in 2017. Former Philippine President Rodrigo Duterte accused de Lima of taking drug money when she was the Justice secretary.
Leila has endured six years of imprisonment. Now, she and her lawyers tried to file a bail petition to the Muntinlupa Regional Trial Court Branch 256.
Unfortunately, her bail plea was denied, as confirmed by her lawyers on Wednesday, June 7.
Leila de Lima Stays Hopeful Despite Getting Her Bail Plea Denied
According to Inquirer Net's latest report, Leila de Lima was disappointed with the decision of the Muntinlupa court.

However, she said that she is still hopeful and will remain so. "I am, of course, disappointed. But with a clean conscience, I cannot and will not lose Hope," said the former senator via her official Twitter post.
In the comment section, many Filipinos shared their support for Leila, saying the "injustice" that de Lima receives breaks their hearts.
Meanwhile, other supporters said that they would pray for the former senator's situation.
Leila's Lawyers To Convince Muntinlupa Court To Reconsider
Since de Lima said that she still remains hopeful, she and her lawyers will try to convince the Muntinlupa court to reconsider the bail plea for the former senator.
Leila said that they would file an MR to raise the issue of the credibility of the inmate witnesses and their testimonies. "I have to remain strong as I'm determined to attain justice and vindication," said the former Justice chief.
