The giant tech firm announced its new Virtual Try-On feature on Wednesday, June 14. Via its official blog post, Google explained that consumers could easily swap clothes when visiting stores.

They can just ask sales associates for assistance and they can leave the store with the clothes they want. "You should feel just as confident shopping for clothes online," said Google.

This is why the search engine giant decided to launch the new Virtual Try-On AI feature.

As of writing, this artificial intelligence feature is only available in the United States. The new Virtual Try-On feature is already integrated into various products of top clothing brands, such as LOFT, H&M, Everlane, etc.

To ensure its efficiency, Google is using a new diffusion-based model it developed internally to power the new Virtual Try-On tech.

The tech giant manufacturer trained the new generative AI model using many pairs of photos; each photo includes a model wearing apparel in two different positions.

The latest Virtual Try-On feature is a big deal for the Google Shopping section.
"When you try on clothes in a store, you can immediately tell if they're right for you," said Google Consumer Shopping Product Director Lilian Rincon.

She explained that 42% of online shoppers don't feel represented by photos of models on Google.

The Google official added that 59% of them feel dissatisfied when shopping for clothes online because their ordered apparel looks different in person.

How To Use Virtual Try-On

Since many online shoppers are not really confident when it comes to buying clothes, the Virtual Try-On is expected to change this scenario.

Using Google Shopping's new AI feature is a piece of cake. All you need to do is click the "Try On" badge (not all product has this icon).

The "Try On" badge is located in the upper right corner of the image. Then, tap on that button and select from the models available that you think have your body type.

Google selected models with body types ranging from XXS to 4XL. To learn more about the new Virtual Try-On feature, you can visit this link.
