Joe Biden's re-election campaign has released a scorching new ad starring Robert De Niro attacking former President Donald Trump as a candidate who will stop at nothing in his relentless lust for power.
The aggressive 30-second ad, narrated by Trump's long-time Hollywood foe, will be distributed nationwide. De Niro's voice booms against dramatic orchestral music and features news images from Trump's presidency as he rakes the former president in the spot.
"From midnight tweets to suggesting bleach [to fight Covid] to tear-gassing citizens for a photo-op, Trump was out of control as president. Then he lost the 2020 election and snapped," the actor begins.
In one photo, Trump is shown on his phone on Air Force One and at the White House podium in 2020, suggesting bleach as a COVID-19 treatment.
Another photo shows Trump posing with a Bible outside the historic St. John's Episcopal Church close to the White House after authorities cleared his path by violently confronting nearby activists peacefully demonstrating against racial injustice following George Floyd's murder.
The ad then turns to the deadly Jan. 6, 2021, attack on the U.S. Capitol, where Trump's extremist supporters stormed the building in a bid to block the certification of Joe Biden's election victory.
Near the end of the ad is a clip of Trump warning there will be a "bloodbath" if he doesn't win in 2024.
"Trump wants revenge and he'll stop at nothing to get it," warns De Niro.
