In a sudden move on July 6, the Crowne Plaza Hotel in downtown Dallas, host of the DaddyLand Festival 2024 circuit party, canceled all remaining LGBTQ DaddyLand events and evicted participants following complaints from other guests.
Organizers have since posted messages on social media noting that the host hotel for the DaddyLand Festival in Dallas 2024 canceled the remaining events due to complaints from non-festival guests, saying that despite efforts to resolve the issues with additional security and accommodations, the hotel owner showed disrespect and decided to evict all attendees without notice.
However, the post did mention the festival would proceed with the remaining events, except for the after-hours events originally scheduled at the Crowne Plaza.
Jason Martinez, a former DaddyLand employee, told the Dallas Voice that problems between the event producer and the host hotel started long before Saturday night.
He explained that the hotel owner canceled the events scheduled at the Crowne and demanded anyone there for DaddyLand leave the hotel, including those who had booked rooms.
Martinez, who quit working on the DaddyLand event a month ago, said the hotel's sales manager told him "corporate was receiving several complaints regarding the boom boom room, or dark room," and instructed him to remove all references to it from advertisements and promotional materials.
Printed on a piece of paper and distributed to hotel guests staying at the Crowne Plaza for the festival, it read:
"TAKE A MOMENT, DADDYLAND GROUP PARTICIPANT. We are sorry it didn't work out. The OWNER OF THE HOTEL is requesting you LEAVE IMMEDIATELY. You will get a refund for Saturday, July 6, 2024, and Sunday, July 7, 2024. Please move out by 6 p.m. ALL PARTIES AND EVENTS ARE CANCELLED: SATURDAY 7/6, SUNDAY 7/7, AND MONDAY 7/8."
Daddy Ersin" Winokur, promoter for the DaddyLand Dallas Festival over the July 4th weekend, contacted Dallas Voice shortly before midnight Sunday, July 7, to say that "for now" the DaddyLand post on social media, reprinted in its entirety below, "will act as our statement. We are still continuing with the remaining events as well as trying to field the calls and messages.
