A horrifying story out of Tennessee has one mother on a mission to find the good samaritans who put her out after being stabbed and set on fire in front of her kids.

Zachary Mowel, 28, allegedly attacked his wife, Tessa Trotter, on the evening of July 1, stabbing her multiple times before setting her ablaze.

Tessa's twin sister, Tori Trotter, said the couple's young children were "watching and pleading" for their father to stop, according to PEOPLE.

Law enforcement arrived at the scene to find Tessa suffering from multiple stab wounds and immediately transported her to a nearby hospital.

According to police documents filed in court and cited by WKRN, Mowel approached an officer who had responded to the scene and said,

"I did it. It was me."

Mowel was then arrested by Tennessee Bureau of Investigation agents on charges of attempted first-degree murder, aggravated arson, aggravated assault, and domestic assault.

The victim's family has vowed to find the good samaritans responsible for saving her life.

Her mother, Tina Trotter, told WSMV that the pair came upon the house fire while in the area looking into an item they had seen on Facebook Marketplace when they witnessed Tessa engulfed in flames.

"God bless you, and I will reach out to you once my family finds out who you are," Tina told the media outlet.

"Our family is so grateful for y'all because I wouldn't have her today."

Tessa is paralyzed from the waist down and has sustained third-degree burns as a result of the attack.

All of her ribs are broken, and she suffers from nine stab wounds, stated the GoFundMe page launched by her sister, Tori.
