Mariah Carey, Randy Jackson: Singer Drops ‘Idol’ Judge as Manager

"American Idol" seems to be going through some rough patches lately. The show's ratings are steadily falling, the Nicki Minaj and Mariah Carey feud heats up over Twitter and it has rumored that producers are seriously thinking about a total judge-rehaul.

Now it's been reported that Carey has dropped Randy Jackson as her manager.

According to Showbiz411, Carey and Jackson are blaming the split on "hectic" schedules.

Earlier in the week, Carey signed to Red Light Management. The power-house company also represents Radiohead, Tim McGraw, Faith Hill, Alicia Keys, Miley Cyrus, Dave Matthews Band and many other singers. Former "Idol" judge Steven Tyler also just signed with Red Light.

Jackson and Carey have been friends since the late 1990s. They met when the "Fantasy" singer was signed with Columbia Records and Jackson was vice president of their A&R department. Jackson reportedly helped get Carey a seat at the "Idol" judges table at a record-breaking sum.

Jackson has been managing the singer since 2011. On air, it never appeared to be any friction between the two and during Wednesday night's show the two were friendly as ever, hinting that the split might have been amicable.

This has been a busy time for the singer. Besides signing with a new label, the singer also released her single "Beautiful", which features Miguel. The single is from her new album which is still unnamed. This will be Carey's 14th album and Showbizz411 reports that it should be released between June 25 and July 7. Carey also has a role in Lee Daniels' upcoming film "The Butler." She has worked with Daniels before in the movie "Precious."

Carey has not tweeted anything regarding signing with a new team but did let fans know that her music video for "Beautiful" will premiere tonight (May 9) on "Idol." The video was supposed to have premiered during Wednesday night's show.
