American actress Emma Stone will make her Broadway debut in Roundabout Theater Company's "Cabaret," according to media reports.

The 25-year-old "The Amazing Spider-Man" actress is in talks to replace Michelle Williams in the Roundabout Theater Company's Tony Award-winning revival of "Cabaret," a spokesman for the production confirmed to New York Times' Arts Beat Monday, Aug. 11.

A representative for the Golden Globe-nominated actress also confirmed the news to New York Daily News, noting that Stone would step in after Williams finishes her run on the show. Williams recently extended her run as Sally Bowles opposite Alan Cumming as Emcee through Nov. 9.

Based on a book written by Christopher Isherwood, music by John Kander and lyrics by Fred Ebb, the 1966 musical is about life at the seedy Kit Kat Klub at the dawn of the 1930s, and follows the story of a 19-year-old flirtatious, intoxicating English cabaret performer named Sally Bowles and her relationship with the young American writer Cliff Bradshaw, according to Entertainment Weekly.

Stone had been one of the original contenders for the role in 2013, when the theater house announced its intention of bringing a replica of the musical's 1998 Broadway revival.  Scheduling conflicts, however, prevented Stone from making her expected Broadway debut.

"The Help" star has not done much theater since her student days, when she performed at Phoenix-based children's company Valley Youth Theater.

If the negotiation between the actress and the theater house works out, Stone would presumably start her "Cabaret" run on Nov. 11.

Though considered as a newbie in the world of theater, Stone has already done several movies and some of these were big hits. She made her feature film debut in the 2007 comedy film "Superbad" and later co-starred in "The House Bunny (2008), Zombieland (2009), and Paper Man (2009). She then nabbed her first-ever lead role in the 2010 teen comedy film "Easy A" that earned her a Golden Globe nomination.

Most recently, she played the role of Eugenia "Skeeter" Phelan in the 2011 flick "The Help," and also reinvented the character of Gwen Stacy in the first two installments of the new "The Amazing Spider-Man" film series (2012, 2014).
