‘Gone Girl’ Movie Trailer: Did Nick Dunne Kill His Wife? Ben Affleck, Rosamund Pike Star in New Teaser (WATCH)

A new trailer for David Fincher's "Gone Girl" debuted during the Emmys on Monday night (Aug. 25) and gave fans a deeper look at Amy and Nick Dunne's troubled marriage. The minute-long clip starts with Amy (Rosamund Pike) and Nick (Ben Affleck) meeting at a party and eventually getting engaged.

The two seem to have a picture-perfect marriage but Pike's character says in a voiceover that she's worried her husband may kill her. Nick soon finds himself being blamed for his wife's disappearance and murder.

Neil Patrick Harris makes a brief cameo as Desi Collings, Amy's creepy ex-boyfriend, and Tyler Perry also has a brief scene as Nick's attorney. The new teaser further shows that all clues point to Nick as the murder, but did he really kill his wife?

"Gone Girl" is based off the psychological-thriller of the same name by Gillian Flynn and tells the story of Nick and Amy's twisted marriage. In the book, the couple comes across hard times and moves from New York to the Midwest for a fresh start. However, before the Dunnes get a chance to settle into their new life, Amy goes missing and Nick is the number one suspect.

An official movie synopsis reads:

"On the occasion of his fifth wedding anniversary, Nick Dunne reports that his beautiful wife, Amy, has gone missing. Under pressure from the police and a growing media frenzy, Nick's portrait of a blissful union begins to crumble. Soon his lies, deceits and strange behavior have everyone asking the same dark question: Did Nick Dunne kill his wife?"

WARNING: The rest of this article contains slight spoilers.

Fans who have already read the book know how things end between Amy and Nick but may be in for a little surprised when they watch the movie. According to Entertainment Weekly (via Vanity Fair) the ending in the film will be a lot different than the one in the book.

"Ben [Affleck] was so shocked by it," Flynn told the magazine about the new ending. "He would say, 'This is a whole new third act! She literally threw that third act out and started from scratch."

Of course they didn't reveal how the endings will differ but the possibilities are endless. The one thing we hope they change is having Amy and Nick end up together.

"Gone Girl" will be released Oct. 3.
