‘Smart from every perspective’—this is Toyota Corolla's definition and lives up to it.
Toyota Corolla is a line of cars manufactured by the Japanese car maker Toyota which was introduced back in 1966. After over four decades of staying power and 11 generations of cars, Toyota Corolla remains stable in the industry with about 290,947 units sold last year in the U.S alone. This year, it has sold about 132,514 through end of May.
While Toyota is more focused on promoting its hybrid-electric car models with Toyota Prius closing 1,091,564 sold units in 2012, the Corolla is being revived and redesigned to reach out to younger market. Toyota Corolla 2014 is coming this fall with price ranging from $16,230 to $20,550. Not only that, owners can also customized their cars and will be charged depending on the parts that they would like to have on it.
The face of the new Toyota Corolla was unveiled last Thursday night in an event held in Santa Monica, Calif. The new model is more spacey than the traditional Corolla which can accommodate six airbags with longer and lower built. It resembles more of a sports car. The maker also equipped it with new transmission, suspension, and interior for a quieter and smoother ride. This model joins the range of the 11th generation of Corolla.
"It’s a huge car for us. It helped really identify the company and the brand and what we’re all about," says Bill Fay, group vice president of the Toyota Division in the U.S. during the event "We should appeal to a little younger buyer and broaden out the appeal of the car to more than what it is today."
Despite the change of how the car looks, Toyota guarantees that it will still have the same durability that older generations have. Posted in their website is that 80 percent of Toyota Corollas purchased 20 years ago are still on the road.
