Cincinnati Bengals corner Adam "Pacman" Jones was arrested on Monday on one count of assault for allegedly hitting a woman outside a bar. Jones tweeted it was self-defense, and the surveillance video appears to support his claim.

Jones' agent, Peter Schaffer, confirmed the arrest to the Cincinnati Enquirer. The incident happened on Wednesday. Jones, 29, was outside of a Cincinnati bar when two women asked to have their picture taken with him, according to Schaffer. Jones declined the photo because he's married.

A patron then appeared to throw a bottle at him, and Jones struck one of the women.

"If this was anyone else they don't charge him and they arrest the girl who threw the bottle, not the guy," Schaffer told reporters. "Given what Adams has been through with the legal process he has been incredibly positive and believes he will be vindicated."

Jones has a history of off-the-field incidents. Since entering the league in 2005, Jones has had at least seven other arrests and a dozen instances that have involved police, according to the Washington Post. The NFL suspended Jones for the 2007 season for repeated violations of the personal conduct policy.

He played in 2008 for the Dallas Cowboys, didn't play in 2009 and signed with the Bengals in 2010.

"I'm at a point in my life where I'm not doing the same things that I used to," he told reporters in 2012. "Now that I'm grown up you are accountable for certain things. Everything you do reflects on you and the consequences are yours."

Jones was released Monday on his own recognizance. His arraignment is scheduled for 12:30 p.m. on Tuesday.
