Josh Duggar Accepts New Job Lobbying For Conservative Family Group

Reality television star and third-time father Joshua Duggar has recently accepted a lobbying job with conservative group Family Research Council, according to reports.

The oldest sibling of TLC's "19 Kids and Counting" is moving to Washington to lead the lobbying sect of FRC under his title of executive director, according to the New York Daily News.

Joshua Duggar recently vowed to follow in his parents' footsteps by having as many children as "God can give" him and his wife Anna. But it is his recent reaffirmation to politics that is reminiscent of his father's, Jim Bob's, run for Senate from Arkansas.

"I will be engaging grassroots and taking the message of faith, family and freedom all across America," Joshua told the newspaper.

The Washington Post sat down with Tom Perkins, executive at the Family Research Council, to talk about why the group chose the 25-year-old, who has worked in politics since 2006.

"Their [show] has shown that there are viewers who are just not inquisitive but who really do understand the importance of family," Perkins said to the newspaper.

Adding, "It will be a culture shock coming fro northwest Arkansas, but he's a sharp kid. He's going to fit in well, I think."

Duggar was offered the job in January at the March for Life, in hopes that hiring him would help the council's agenda in brining issues of anti-abortion and anti-gay legislation to young people, according to The Post.

"The big part of Josh's focus is going to be building our grass-roots across the country," Perkins said to the publication.

In 2012 Joshua, along his father and mother, Michelle, campaigned during the Republican presidential primary supporting former Senator Rick Santorum.

TLC will continue to follow all of the Duggars' lives at home, says Reality TV World, but does not have plans to put Joshua's new job duties - which will involve him traveling to different parts of the country - on camera.
