Taliban Prisoner Exchange Offer Gives Hope For Bowe Bergdahl

Following the offer of exchange of prisoners by the Taliban the family of Bowe Bergdahl, the only known U.S. soldier caught by Taliban during the Afghanistan war, said they were feeling "very optimistic" about seeing their son soon.

Taliban has asked the U.S. government to release five of their most senior operatives at Guantanamo Bay in exchange for Bergdahl.

Bowe's mother spoke to around 2,000 people gathered in Hailey, Bowe's hometown, in a city park where the family said that their son had played as a kid.

Around 400 people arrived on motorcycles from as far as Utah, California and Nevada in support of the U.S. soldier who is been imprisoned since June 30, 2009, according to BBC.

"We are feeling very optimistic this week," said Bowe's mother speaking in front of the crowd.

"Bowe, we love you, we support you, and are eagerly awaiting your return home. I love you my son, as I have, from the first moment I heard of you, the never-ending, unconditional love a mother has for her child," said the mother.

Early this month, the family said that they received a letter believed to be written by their son, which was the first letter in four years. The family received the letter through the International Committee of the Red Cross.

Talking about their son his parents said that their son joined the military at 22 because he honestly thought he could help the people of Afghanistan.

Bob Bergdahl, Bowe's father, who has grown a beard in solidarity and support of his son, said he had even learned the language of the land where his son was imprisoned.

Speaking in Pashtun, the father sent a message of peace to the people of Afghanistan.

"May the peace of God and the blessings that come from God be upon you," said Bob Bergdahl.

Bob then requested for the address of the office of Taliban in Doha.

"Do you have the information? Please tell me," he said.

Later he spoke in English addressing his son:"Bowe, my son, if you can hear me, you are part of the peace process. You are part of ending the Afghan war as we have known for some time. I will not leave you on the battlefield. Your country will not leave you on the battlefield. You are not forgotten. "
