No. 11 Kansas had their five-game winning streak snapped on Saturday at Iowa State, 86-81. The loss dropped the Jayhawks to a 14-3 record, and having only one day of rest before playing the No. 19 Sooners won't make it any easier for coach Bill Self's team to bounce back from the defeat.
"It's a quick turnaround," Self said, via ESPN. "Now the real fun begins trying to get your team back (after) a deflating loss. We'll have to be good because I think (Oklahoma) and Iowa State are the two best offensive teams in our league, and we saw how we guarded one of the two. We'll have to make some adjustments and hopefully be turned up more defensively on Monday."
Oklahoma, meanwhile, is 12-5 after snapping their two-game losing streak with an 82-65 win on Saturday against Oklahoma State. Sooners junior guard Buddy Hield turned in a big game, going 10-of-10 from the field and finishing with 27 points. He leads Oklahoma in scoring with 17.6 points per game, something he credits to his recent decision to arrive earlier on game days to get more shots up.
"If I don't do it, I don't feel comfortable," he said. "I just shoot until I feel comfortable and then I go sit down in the locker room and crack jokes with the boys. I rest for about 30 minutes and then I come back and shoot again."
