By now, fans are familiar with Iron Man, Captain America, the Hulk and the rest of the Avengers. But those who are eagerly anticipating "Avengers: Age of Ultron" have only been treated to a one-second shot of the newest super powered being, Vision.

Played by Paul Bettany, who also voices Tony Stark's A.I. butler JARVIS, Vision is a fan favorite from the comics who has been kept largely under wraps by director Joss Whedon. But in true Marvel fashion, Whedon promises that he is worth the wait on.

"When I first started talking about doing an Avengers movies I was just like, "I don't know if I should do an Avengers movie, but if you do the second one the villain should be Ultron and he should create Vision, and Bettany has to play it.' I was like, 'Look at those cheekbones. Bettany's the Vision.' He has a stillness that goes beyond British, that is something just unique and emotive, and he's going to blow people away."

Whedon is altering Vision's origins by having Ultron create him as opposed to Dr. Pym, who brought Vision to life in the comic books in a peace-keeping effort. However, a promotional poster for "Age of Ultron" claimed that Vision was "programmed by the combined geniuses of Tony Stark and Bruce Banner." Perhaps, the latter duo initially creates Vision before Ultron gets his hands on him and changes the creation to suit his needs.

Whedon also revealed during the interview that popular Marvel characters who have not been seen in trailers or promo work will appear in "Avengers: Age of Ultron." One possible addition in some small capacity could be Spider-Man, now that he is officially a part of the Marvel Cinematic Universe thanks to an agreement between Disney and Sony. What better way to whet audience's appetites then by throwing the web-slinger into a fun post-credits scene?

"Avengers: Age of Ultron" will hit theaters on May 1.
