KISS is "insulting" its fans by trotting out replacement members wearing the outfits and makeup made famous by original members Ace Frehley and Peter Criss, outspoken Twisted Sister frontman Dee Snider said last week.
Guitarist Tommy Thayer plays the role of "The Spaceman," made famous by ousted band member Ace Frehley, while drummer Eric Singer wears the "Catman" garb popularized by Peter Criss, who was also fired by the band.
"I don't see how people could accept this," Snider said in an interview with Eddie Trunk. "Tommy Thayer? I'm sorry. It's insulting. Not only did he play with a tribute band of KISS, he's imitating Ace in his entire act!"
Snider was speaking about the issue of replacement band members after he apologized for his Tweet ripping Doug Aldrich, who until recently was a replacement member of Whitesnake.
Gene Simmons and Paul Stanley are the only original members currently in KISS.
