She rose to fame on the Disney channel's "High School Musical," and now actress and singer Ashley Tisdale is getting ready to settle down with her rocker beau Christopher French, as the two recently confirmed their engagement, the Daily Mail reports, and Tisdale's enormous diamond ring is certainly something to show off.
French and Tisdale were photographed in L.A. recently, a day after French popped the question to his new fiancée during their romantic trip to New York. "Best night of my life," Tisdale tweeted today. "'We're on top of the world."
Fans were quick to take to Twitter and congratulate the 28-year old star on her engagement, to which she responded with gratitude. "Thank you guys for all your well wishes," she wrote. "Means so much to me. We're so grateful and excited. #imthehappiestgirlintheworld."
So how did French pop the question? According to Life & Style sources, he proposed to Tisdale last Thursday from a very high and special vantage point, on top of the Empire State Building!
"It happened on the 103rd floor at the top of the Empire State Building," an insider revealed to the magazine. "It was totally romantic and Ashley's over the moon, of course!"
The two started dating last year after Tisdale split with her film director boyfriend Scott Speer.
"She likes those rocker types," a source previously told Us Weekly. "They have mutual friends and just met through hanging out."
As for her acting career, Tisdale will appear alongside Nicolas Cage in her next film, "Left Behind," which follows a group of people left on earth after the Rapture.
"I'm super-excited to be doing a movie called 'Left Behind' with Nicolas Cage. I play his daughter, and it's a drama, so it's completely different from this," Tisdale said in a recent interview. "I've always loved drama and I love comedy, but I think it's good to switch it up to show your range."
While out with her fiancé in L.A., Tisdale kept it casual wearing a loose-fitting gray t-shirt, cut-off jean shorts and a pair of black sneakers, her dazzling, square diamond ring held out for all to see.
