Nokia has reportedly delayed the launch of its large 6-inch Lumia 1520 from the expected September 26 date to mid-October, citing the sale of device and services division to Microsoft as the reason.

Nokia may have been interested in stepping into the big screen phablet business after launching Lumia 625, the company's largest Windows Phone with a 4.7-inch screen, but the Finnish maker has chosen to keep things low-keyed around its rumored Lumia 1520, codenamed "Bandit." The to-be-announced smartphone will be the largest Windows Phone with a 6-inch screen, if the rumors are true.

Several reports and leaked images from reliable sources confirmed that the Lumia 1520 will be announced September 26, at an event hosted by Nokia in New York. But those reports seem to be just rumors after a source revealed that the 6-inch smartphone will not debut until mid-October, according to Reuters.

The source familiar with the matter also said that the reason behind the delay is the $7.2 billion sale of Nokia's device and services division to Microsoft, announced earlier this month. The two companies are still operating separately as the deal has not come to a closure. Following the deal, Nokia's Chief Executive, Stephen Elop, will return to his former company as the executive vice president of the devices and services division.

According to previous reports, the Lumia 1520 will run on the Windows Phone GDR3 that will support Snapdragon 800 quad-core chips, as well as 1080p support. Sources revealed that the phone maker will launch a new lineup of devices that will support 1080p.

The new smartphone will be cased in a polycarbonate body and feature a 20 megapixel rear-facing camera.

Nokia is yet to confirm the existence of Lumia 1520, which is likely to be done next month.
