Rumors have been swirling regarding Ben Cherington's status for next season. Cherington left the Boston Red Sox after Dave Dombrowski was hired as president of baseball operations and a number of MLB clubs are reportedly interested in taking him on board.

However, he may not be on the market right now.

The Milwaukee Brewers, Philadelphia Phillies, Los Angeles Angels and Seattle Mariners have been the subject of the latest rumor talk involving Cherington. All of those clubs are looking/could be looking for a new general manager for next season and at least the Brewers and Phillies want an analytical executive, for which Cherington fits the bill.

Perhaps he's just waiting for a more favorable situation to come his way. The Brewers, Phillies and Mariners aren't exactly MLB royalty and there's a chance he faces great opposition with manager Mike Scioscia in Los Angeles, as former analytical GM Jerry Dipoto did.

Whatever the case, Cherington's future employment will remain a notable storyline between now and next season.
