New York Jets cornerback Antonio Cromartie's knee injury came back negative in the MRI, and he hasn't been ruled out for this upcoming week, according to Randy Lange of NewYorkJets.com.

Cromartie was helped off the field yesterday by two trainers and was eventually carted in to the Jets locker room. Cromartie and the Jets received the good news Monday, as a negative test means Cromartie only has a sprained knee.

The Jets signed Cromartie to a four-year, $32 million contract this offseason, and brought him back to reunite with cornerback Darrelle Revis. The Jets looked good in their opener, beating the Cleveland Browns 31-10.

Cromartie has not been ruled out of next Monday night's game against the Indianapolis Colts, but he will be evaluated more as the week goes on. Marcus Williams filled in for the injured Cromartie against the Browns, and he played big by grabbing an interception and making three tackles.

The Jets have a strong all around defense, from defensive line to secondary, and they will need that against Andrew Luck and the Colts. The Jets will likely watch game film of how the Bills slowed down the Colts offense yesterday, and will want to have that same impact on Colts quarterback Luck.

Cromartie was feared to have a devastating ACL or MCL injury, but Jets fans will likely be happy to hear that he only suffered a knee sprain. The Jets will need Cromartie this season as he is a ball hawk who has 31 interceptions throughout his career. It will be interesting to watch if Cromartie plays against the Colts and, if he does play, if there will be any impact on his coverage of Colts receivers due to the injury.
