The Royal Canadian Mounted Police (RCMP) issued an Amber Alert on Monday after they discovered that 2-year-old Hailey Dunbar-Blanchette was missing while investigating the death of her father, 27-year-old Terry Blanchette. Police discovered Terry's body at his home in Blairmore, Alberta, in what appears to be a homicide.

The Amber Alert was later extended to British Columbia and Saskatchewan as well as the U.S. state of Montana. An air and ground search is ongoing in the region.

"This type of incident, combined with the scene at the residence we found, is concerning to the highest degree," RCMP Superintendent Tony Hamori said during a press conference, according to The Globe and Mail. "Given the fact that Hailey is a 2-year-old, that inherently makes her vulnerable."

Police have not yet identified any suspects but are on the lookout for a newer model white van with a large rear antenna and flag attached to the vehicle. The van was seen speeding away from the crime scene, ABC News reported.

Hailey's mother, Cheyenne Dunbar, who shared joint custody of the child with Terry, has been ruled out as a suspect, according to CTV News.

Hailey has been described as a white girl with a small build, brown eyes and light brown hair with bangs. The RCMP have made an appeal to the public, asking people with information to contact 911 and avoid confrontation with the suspect or suspects.
