Jenna Coleman confirmed rumors and said that she's filmed her last scenes for the long-running BBC sci-fi series "Doctor Who," the Wrap reported. Coleman also confirmed that she's leaving the show to take on the role as Queen Victoria in a new ITV series titled "Victoria."

"I have left the Tardis - it's happened," she told BBC Radio 1. "I've filmed my last scenes."

Coleman spent three years on "Doctor Who" as the doctor's assistant, Clara Oswald. She had the longest reign in that role over of any other actress since the show was rebooted in 2005, as previously reported by HNGN.

Coleman gushed about her new role as Queen Victoria. She will portray the Queen and depict her life from the age of 18 until her marriage to Prince Albert.

"She is a vivid, strong, inspirational and utterly fascinating woman in British history and I can't wait to tell her story," Coleman said, according to the Wrap.

She revealed that she worked closely with "Doctor Who" show runner, writer and producer Steven Moffat to ensure her departure from the show would be a smooth transition. Even though she expressed excitement to begin her new role as Queen Victoria, she admitted it was an emotional departure. The actress took to Twitter after her interview to express how grateful she was to have been a part of the show.

"Adventures to last me a lifetime. Thank you @bbcdoctorwho," she tweeted. "But as they say 'It ain't over till it's over.'"
