American progressive metal band Tool announced the first eight dates of its upcoming 2016 U.S. tour on Facebook, reported Consequence of Sound. After teasing the announcement last week, the band posted the gigs that will be the start of the band's first run of dates since its 2014 tour.

"Those faint glimpses of TOOL SHOWS that I recently perceived in the scrying mirror can now be considered official," read a statement from Tool, posted on the band's official Facebook page. "Indeed, something wicked your way comes... THE UNPARALLELED SONIC AND VISUAL EXPERIENCE OF TOOL LIVE."

The group's tour is set to kickoff Saturday, Jan. 9, at the Viejas Arena in San Diego, Calif., and continues to Tuesday, Jan. 26, at the Bojangles Coliseum in Charlotte, N.C., according to the post.

"Fans will have to keep checking back (SOON) on the Tool websites and Tool facebook page for an official announcement containing a list of the SHOW DATES, CITIES and VENUES, as well as for info about a tour support act(s)," read Tool's teaser statement. "Regarding an opening band(s), what I was able to discern through the ever-shifting veil will in all likeliness be exciting to many Tool enthusiasts."

The band has yet to officially announce the supporting acts for its tour, but the Ticketmaster pages for each tour stop state that the alternative metal group Primus and industrial rockers 3Teeth are scheduled to open.

Tickets for the first eight concerts will go on sale this Friday, Nov. 20, via Ticketmaster.
