Jesse Tyler Ferguson made a shocking revelation on social media earlier today about a cancer scare.

The 40-year-old "Modern Family" star shared a photo of himself with a giant bandage on his cheek, letting his fans know that he was OK. "Thank you Dr. Bennett & his entire team for taking the cancer out of my face," he wrote. "Good luck hiding the stitches tomorrow @modernfamily_makeuphair!"

While the fair-skinned actor did not specify what type of cancer the doctors removed, it's likely that it is skin cancer, as he used the hashtag "#spf75," hinting at sunscreen protection.

Ferguson has been a constant supporter of Stand Up to Cancer, a groundbreaking initiative created to accelerate innovative cancer research to help get new therapies to patients quickly and help save lives. Last year, he revealed that his husband, Justin Mikita, underwent a battle with the disease at a very young age.

"He was diagnosed when he was 13 and that's sort of an age when you don't really realize what's going on," Ferguson explained to E! News at the time. "He goes in once a year for his checkup to make sure he's still cancer free so he's always reminded of it...I think it does touch him in a lot of ways. He's thrilled that I'm here and I'm definitely representing him."
