There are a lot of factors that make “Elementary” a good show—the mystery, the interesting way Sherlock solves cases and the jokes that are sprinkled throughout each episode.
It’s fairly apparent that one aspect of many TV shows does not permeate throughout this CBS show—romance.
When it comes to the characters in this show there are some viewers who would like to see Sherlock (Johnny Lee Miller) with Joan (Lucy Liu), some who would like to see them stay friends and some who would like to see Sherlock end up with Irene Adler/Jamie Moriarty (Natalie Dormer).
If I had to choose between Joan and Jamie for Sherlock, I’d pick the latter. (Although I’m not sure how that would affect them being mortal enemies.) So where does that leave Joan’s love life?
In a recent interview with Entertainment Weekly, executive producer Rob Doherty said he’s taking his time with Sherlock’s partner.
“I will confess, it is sometimes personally challenging for me to identify someone who suits her. I feel kind of paternal in that respect,” he said. “You want to try different people on and yet at the end of the day we don’t want it to look like Joan is a serial dater. So it’s a tricky line to walk.”
He added that Steve Kazee’s Jeff Hines, the man that was interested in Joan a few episodes ago, will probably return. However, the date for that return has not been “crafted” as of yet.
According to a preview of next week’s episode posted on CBS.com, Holmes and Watson will have bigger problems than their love lives this Thursday. In this week’s episode someone is going after the team. Captain Gregson (Aidan Quinn) might be affected the most since the perpetrator has pictures of the Captain all over his wall and breaks into the Captains home.
