An 18-wheeler carrying roughly 100 cows overturned on Mississippi Interstate 20 in Jackson Friday morning, releasing some cows onto the freeway while others were trapped in the trailer.

Traffic was diverted away from the I-20, and the truck driver was taken to a hospital with non-life-threatening injuries, reported WAPT.

The roaming cows caused four other accidents in the area, causing only minor injuries, The Herald Banner noted.

Cows were seen roaming the nearby fields and at a gas station, according to Fox News. Some even made it as far as a Jackson neighborhood. Some cows died in the crash, and several were injured. Stockyard employees were recruited to help herd the cows into a trailer, and most of the cows were recovered.

The cows are to be held at Massey's Stockyard in Jackson until they can be shipped to an insurance company.
