Texas A&M transfer, quarterback Kyler Murray, has signed with the Oklahoma Sooners, the university announced Thursday. Murray has signed a financial aid agreement with the school and will join the football program in spring 2016.

"We're very happy to welcome Kyler to our program and we look forward to working with him," Sooners head coach Bob Stoops, the Big 12 Coach of the Year, said in a statement announcing Murray's signing.

Murray, a five-star recruit out of Texas Allen High School, struggled through a difficult freshman season for the Aggies. He appeared in eight games for Texas A&M and head coach Kevin Sumlin, with three starts. All told, Murray gathered 1,021 yards of total offense, with 686 coming through the air and 335 coming on the ground. He completed 72 of 121 passes for five touchdowns and seven interceptions.

Murray went 2-1 in his three starts, with his best outing coming in his initial game as a starter against the South Carolina Gamecocks. In that contest, a winning effort for the Aggies, Murray completed 20 of 28 passes for 223 yards and a touchdown. He also rushed for 156 yards and a touchdown on 20 carries. Murray crashed back to earth the next week against Auburn though, completing just 13 of 23 passes for 105 yards and three interceptions. He also managed just 37 rushing yards on eight carries.

With Baker Mayfield having established himself as a star this season, the Sooners look to have a pretty succession plan in place. If all goes as expected, Mayfield will lead the team next season while Murray sits out, at which point Mayfield will then hand the keys to the Sooners offense to Murray as he heads off to the pros.
