Seth Meyes and his wife Alexi Ashe have welcomed their first baby!
The 42-year-old "Late Night With Seth Meyers" host and Ashe, 32, introduced their baby boy into the world on Sunday, March 27. The new dad took to Twitter on Monday morning to announce the exciting news.
"Thank you, everyone for the kind words!" he wrote. "Mom and baby are doing great!!!"
The "Saturday Night Live" alum then made a few Hamilton jokes, as well. "I can also confirm that when you have a baby in New York you pretty much just sing 'The Schuyler Sisters' for the first 12 hours," he added. "The 'looking around' and 'lucky to be alive' parts. NOT Burr being all skeevy. He'll need to be far older for that stuff."
The happy couple has not yet released their son's name, but the host plans to reveal more information when he returns to his late night show on Tuesday, March 29.
Earlier this month, Meyers spoke about his excitement over being a first-time dad. "I'm most looking forward to seeing who it looks like, that's the first thing out of the gate," he said. "Although...a lot of people have said my wife and I look alike, so I think that's the one thing we know, is that the child will look like us. If not, there's a real problem."
He did then admit that they had been asking people who already had children for advice. "It's a lot more fun talking to people who are on their third kid than people who are on their first kid," he explained. "First kid people have a checklist [of] a million things long, whereas on their third kid, they basically tell you, 'Look, [babies] are indestructible. You don't have to worry about it. They're gonna get bumps and bruises it'll be fine.' So we've been trying to spend more time with people that have multiple children."
He and Ashe, who is a human rights lawyer, first met at fellow "Saturday Night Live" alum Chris Kattan's wedding and then got married on Martha's Vineyard in Massachusetts in September 2013.
They first announced their pregnancy to their friends in November while at a Gala in New York City. "Both Seth and Alexi were beaming at last night's Natural History Museum Gala," a source said at the time. "They are so thrilled to become parents and were so happy to share the exciting news with friends and cast members from 'SNL' last night."
