The NFL Draft is just two short weeks away and while every other general manager in the league is scrambling to conduct last minute research, Washington Redskins GM Scot McCloughan is kicking back stress free. Why the cool, calm demeanor on the eve of just his second draft with the team? McCloughan says he already knows who his primary target will be in the first-round. Though he wouldn't get into specifics (obviously), he did compare the player to guard Brandon Scherff, last year's first-round pick.

"He's not the most flashy guy, he's not the prettiest guy, but he's a football player and that's what I'm talking about with a red," McCloughan said.

The GM talks of players in terms of being blues and red, presumably referring to the blue chip metaphor.

"Blues are like perennial Pro Bowl players," he explained. "Reds are like really good football players."

When it comes right down to, McCloughan's approach to building a quality roster is pretty simple.

"So, if you're lucky, you have four or five blues and hopefully one of those is your quarterback," he added. "If you have another 30 who are reds, starters, solid backups, core special teams guys, then you have a chance. That's how you build your roster. That's how you build your team."

McCloughan is searching for another red player with the No. 21 overall pick in this year's draft.

"You wait and see who we take at 21 in the draft this year," he said. "He's a red."

Of course, this could all be an elaborate ruse to try and drum up a trade market for the pick. McCloughan is known to be a fan of moving down the draft board and acquiring more selections. But when asked if he knew who he wanted to take, the GM remained steadfast in his resolve.

"Yeah, I think. Hopefully he's not gone," he said. "But I'm adding the same kind of guy. Toughness, smarts, competitiveness, team. The whole thing."

Washington has needs at every level of its defense and along the offense line. Lucky for them, this draft is deep on defensive line and cornerback talent, should they decide to go that route at No. 21.

The NFL Draft will be held from April 28-30.
