The 2013 NFL draft first round was filled with surprises. Teams wheeled-and-dealed throughout the night, and by the end 11 spots had been swapped.

Three of the first four picks were used on offensive tacklesNa, making it the first time in draft history to happen according to NFL.com. The theme of straying from the expected continued throughout the night, and after pick No. 32 only one quarterback and three receivers had been selected - no running backs came off the board. Linemen were by far the order of the night.

The first pick saw the Kansas City Chiefs choose Central Michigan's Eric Fisher (OT). Luke Joeckel from Texas A&M followed as the second overall pick by the Jacksonville Jaguars.

As rumors suggested leading up to the draft, the Oakland Raiders traded their No. 3 pick. The Miami Dolphins surprised many by trading up from their No. 12 spot to select Oregon's defensive end Dion Jordan.

The St. Louis Rams traded their No. 16 overall pick for the Buffalo Bills' No. 8. Tavon Austin, the hot receiver out of West Virginia, became the first player in a skill position to be selected. The Rams picked him eighth overall.

Alabama cornerback Dee Milliner went No. 9 to the New York Jets to fill Darrelle Revis' vacated spot. With the Tampa Bay Buccaneers' No. 13 pick, acquired in the Revis trade earlier this month, the Jets selected Missouri defensive tackle Sheldon Richardson.

In a surprising jump, the San Francisco 49ers moved up for the Dallas Cowboys' No. 18 spot to select Louisiana State safety Eric Reid.

The Atlanta Falcons moved into the Rams' No. 22 spot and bolstered their secondary by selecting Washington cornerback Desmond Truffant.

Finally, the New England Patriots acquired the Minnesota Vikings' second, third, fourth and seventh round picks this year so that the Vikings could select Tennessee receiver Cordarrelle Patterson with the No. 29 pick.

The second round of the NFL draft begins tonight. It's possible that in coming rounds that players begin being traded for picks. New York's Tim Tebow and New England's Ryan Mallet have been mentioned, although it seems unlikely either could fetch a second round pick.
