Barcelona takes on Bayern Munich Wednesday in the semifinal of the UEFA Champions League.

Bayern Munich will look to enter the Championship League final for the third time in four years by defeating four-time Champions League winners Barcelona on Wednesday. The German team is the projected favorite after annihilating Barcelona 4-0 a week ago in their first meeting.

After losing last season's Championship League final to Chelsea, Bayern Munich hopes to learn from their mistakes and take home the championship next month, according to ESPN.

"Some clubs give up, but everyone at Bayern reacted in a very positive way," Bayern manager Jupp Heynckes said. "We made changed, signed good players, modified some things, and strengthened the team spirit."

All that stands in their way is Barcelona.

"We believe we can fight back, it's our obligation and we're convinced (it's possible)," Barcelona manager Tito Vilanova said. "We know it will be very difficult but we are Barca and we can never give up on a tie, especially when we have 90 minutes of play at home. ... We cannot give up, we need to make our fans proud."

It will be the greatest comeback in the league's history if Barcelona can make it to the final next month. To do that, they will need their star forward Lionel Messi to perform well after recently returning from a hamstring injury.

"A player as good as Messi, at this point in the competition, will have things to say," Vilanova said.

Barcelona, a four-time Champions League winner, will host Bayern Munich on Wednesday at 2:45 p.m. ET.
