Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelensky made a surprise appearance during the Grammys 2022 awards event, delivering a heartfelt speech via video requesting help amid the brutal Russia-Ukraine war.
The remarks were made via a pre-recorded clip that Zelensky filmed while inside a bunker in Ukraine's capital, Kyiv. The leader said, "war doesn't let us choose who survives and who stays in eternal silence. Our musicians wear body armor instead of tuxedos. They sing to the wounded in hospitals. Even to those who can't hear them. But the music will break through anyway."
Zelensky's Heartfelt Speech
Zelensky added that his government and the people of Ukraine will continue to protect their country's freedom and continue the fight against Russia's unprovoked invasion. Many people who watched the pre-recorded message quickly took to social media platforms to share their awe of the Ukrainian president's speech.
One online user said they were not expecting Zelensky to make a sudden appearance at the Grammys 2022. Another person said that the Ukrainian president was the undisputed winner of the events with his sincere remarks, as per Unilad.
During his speech, Zelensky also encouraged everyone who was listening to his statements to spread the truth about the war. He urged everyone to be active on social networks and TV and asked for support in any way possible, all except silence.
The Ukrainian president said that with the world working together against Russia's war on his country peace will eventually come. He called the cities of Chernihiv, Kharkiv, Volnovakha, Mariupol, and several others, legends for enduring the attacks of Moscow's military forces.
According to CNN, Zelensky noted that the war with Russia has already resulted in ruined cities and many casualties. The Ukrainian president said the children of the country were drawing rockets and not shooting stars. He revealed that there have been more than 400 children were injured and 153 who have been killed during the invasion.

The situation comes as Human Rights Watch said it has documented several cases of Russian military troops conducting laws-of-war violations against Ukrainian civilians in Chernihiv, Kharkiv, and Kyiv. The allegations include a case of repeated rape, two cases of summary execution, one of six men, the other of one man, and several other unlawful violence and threats against civilians.
The dates of the alleged acts were from Feb. 27 to Mar. 14 and Russian soldiers were also implicated in looting civilian property, including food, clothing, and firewood. The agency said that the troops who were responsible for the acts committed war crimes.
The organization interviewed 10 people, made up of witnesses, victims, and local residents of Russia-occupied territories in Ukraine, by telephone. Some of the individuals asked to be identified only by their first names or pseudonyms for fear of their lives.
Russian forces in Bucha allegedly rounded five men on Mar. 4 and summarily executed one of them. One of the witnesses said that the military troops forced the five men to kneel on the side of the road, pulled their T-shirts over their heads, and shot one of them in the back of the head, HRW reported.
