Police are investigating the deaths of two missing teenagers as homicides, but investigators searching for them think they discovered their bodies in the woods on Sunday.

Devin Clark, 18, and Lyric Woods, 14, were neighbors in North Carolina who were reported missing over the weekend.

A third person is suspected of being involved when a witness claimed to have seen Woods in a car in the early hours of Saturday, the day she was reported missing. The Orange County Sheriff's Office claimed that two men driving four-wheelers found the remains on a trail about 2.5 miles from Woods's house, near the junction of Buckhorn and Yarbrough roads.

David White, a nearby resident, claimed to have heard many shots fired on Friday night. White lives only a few feet from where the two victims were discovered with gunshot wounds.

Woods' stepfather, Shane Cannada, stated she was clearly at home at about 11 p.m. on Friday but was gone when he tried to wake her up on Saturday. She was reported missing that day.

Near where the remains were eventually discovered, a neighbor claimed to have seen the teenager riding in someone's car at 3 a.m. on Saturday. To find her, police used a scent hound, which led them into some nearby woods, as per News Week via MSN.

The mother of Devin Clark has spoken out following the Tuesday night arrest of another minor in connection with their deaths. Following the Orange County Sheriff's Office's announcement of the juvenile suspect's arrest in her son's death, Tiffany Conception, also known as Shant'ae Conception on social media, stated in a Facebook Live video,"At this point, all I wanted was justice for Devin Clark and Lyric Woods."

The 17-year-old victim was an East Alamance High School football player who sported the number 4 jersey on Thursday. According to his mother's Facebook Live video, his teammates used the number two to refer to him as "Deuce, two times", Fox News reported.

Police Did Not Mention if Teens' Deaths Are Related

Calling 919-245-2918 will connect you to Investigator Keith Goodwin at the Sheriff's Office if you have any potential information about the case. According to a release on Tuesday, their office is collaborating with the Alamance County Sheriff's Office, the Efland Fire Department, the Burlington Police Department, the Federal Bureau of Investigation, and the State Highway Patrol's Viper Unit.

Stan Dean, Woods' grandfather, is also offering a $10,000 reward for information leading to the capture of her killer. According to Kevin Medlin, a spokesman for the Sheriff's Office, records, including 911 calls and the incident report for the case, won't be made available to the general public or media until after the sheriff has given his consent and the inquiry is through.

Clark was a senior at Eastern Alamance High School and Woods was a ninth-grader at Hillsborough's Cedar Ridge High School. The Sheriff's Office declined to comment on whether the two students were acquainted, despite multiple social media posts claiming otherwise from friends and relatives.

According to a statement from the Alamance-Burlington School System, Clark played wide receiver for the Eastern Alamance football team. Woods had also attended Gravelly Hill Middle and Efland-Cheeks Global Elementary.

Two GoFundMe accounts had amassed more than $40,000 by Tuesday afternoon to assist the families of the teens in covering their funeral expenses. This verified GoFundMe was organized by friends of Woods' family. Another GoFundMe page has been set up for Clark by his aunt, as per AOL.
