In New York, two muggers were seen in daylight attacking a 66-year-old man on a Queens sidewalk, stealing $17,000 from him.

The New York Police Department published a terrifying video demonstrating the brutal mugging of the older victim by his lawless assailants, taking advantage of the victim's helplessness.

66-year-old New Yorker Dragged, Robbed

Police expressed hope the dreadful criminals would be caught to stop them, reported the NY Daily News.

Based on the reports of the vicious mugging incident, the older man was walking along 71st St. towards Juniper Valley Road in Middle Village on Thursday early in the afternoon.

The two muggers were seen as they ambushed their helpless victim from the rear and overpowered him. During the one-sided altercation, the criminal hit the elderly man and dragged him on the ground, noted the NY Post.

Next, one of the lowlifes would reach down to roll their elderly victim on his back. The chilling video shows the mugger trying to grab the bag when the victim still had the strength left to fight.

However, the suspect advanced and punched and slapped the victim, who was desperately trying to keep his bag clutched to his chest during the daylight New York mugging.

Soon after, the attacker caused the victim to call in a desperate cry for help. Then the mugger dragged the 66-year-old man to get the bag with $17,000 in it.

Intent on snatching the bag led to a vicious foot slam on the helpless elderly man's head, as seen in the video capture.

The lowlife dragged the victim almost 10 feet on the pavement; finally, the attacker punched the victim's face and torso, causing him to give up.

The attack ends with the triumphant thief racing down the street, where the suspect boards a maroon Ford Fusion, said the police on the case. The getaway car drove to Eliot Avenue, noted the cops, citing Fox5.

NY Police Investigates Daylight Mugging

The elderly victim of the heinous robbery suffered bruises and scratches caused by the brutal muggers. He was asked by the police about the incident and remarked that the bag had $17,000 in it.

Investigators weren't sure if the muggers knew the victim possessed the money at that time.

Referencing video from cameras near the scene and nearby blocks, the NYPD was able to trace the robbers from the Artis Drug and Surgical Supplies store on Eliot Avenue, nearly a mile from the crime scene.

Using the recovered surveillance video with the two perpetrators, they were identified as white, either Hispanic or black, possessing a medium build with short dark hair.

Also, the criminal wore a dark-colored hooded jacket, was wearing red, white, and blue Tommy Hilfiger sweatpants, sneakers as footwear, and, lastly, covered his face with a North Face baseball cap and glasses.

The companion wore a dark-colored hooded jacket, same-colored sweatpants, grey rubber shoes, and headgear worn as a Houston Astros baseball cap.
