At least one person got hurt in a large apartment fire that broke out early Thursday afternoon in Los Angeles, according to local authorities.
The fire broke out around 5:30 pm at 2800 West 7th Street, requiring a significant number of firemen to respond, per ABC 7.
More than 100 firemen battled the large fire incident, thick black smoke ascended above the two-story apartment building in the Westlake District area, according to media reports.
Emergency responders employed "surround and drown" to extinguish the massive fire and keep it from spreading.
LAFD Assistant Chief Dean Zipperman said that they had firefighters operating inside, while some units were positioned on the roof to ventilate the burning building.
The building's remaining occupants have been safely evacuated, according to Fox News.
Police Arrest Suspect, Accused of Battery
Authorities arrested a man Thursday afternoon after a massive and intense fire broke out at an apartment building. The man is thought to have started the fire on purpose.

The official said they identified the suspect as the battery victim's brother, who broke into her residence.
The Los Angeles Police Department has said that the suspect for starting the fire may be charged with arson and assault with a lethal weapon against a police officer, per NBC Los Angeles.
